Avalon Beach is one of Sydney's most beautiful communities and one of its more logistically demanding suburbs for a removalist. The village centre around Avalon Parade has tight streets with limited turning space for large trucks, on-street parking fills early, and many of the residential streets heading up into the hills are narrow enough to require careful planning around which vehicle size to use.
The properties here range from original beach shacks to multi-million dollar prestige homes — often sitting next to each other on the same street. The shacks tend to have challenging access: low-pitched rooflines, cramped hallways, and entry paths too tight for large furniture to pass through without disassembly. The prestige properties present their own challenges — long curved driveways, high-end flooring that needs protecting, and artwork or feature pieces that need more than standard wrapping.
Getting to Avalon itself requires navigating Barrenjoey Road through Bilgola and the Bends — sections of road that are unsuitable for large trucks during peak hours. We time departures to avoid these windows, ensuring we arrive on time without putting an oversized vehicle on a road that isn't designed for it.
On-the-Ground Experience
Avalon Parade and the side streets immediately off it are some of the tightest we work in on the Northern Beaches. We've learned through experience which streets require a smaller truck and which can accommodate our full-size vehicle. That knowledge saves you time and money on the day.
The Bilgola Bends and the route through Newport are only appropriate for large trucks during off-peak windows. We build this into the planning — scheduling departure and arrival times that keep us clear of the conditions that would slow us down or create road safety issues.
Many Avalon properties have mature tree canopies over driveways — beautiful, but a hazard for tall vehicles. We check clearance heights during the quote stage and choose the right vehicle accordingly. No driver making an impulsive decision with your furniture loaded.
